Browsing for videos is also as fast as ever, and you now also have the option to browse through ‘My Videos’ on your device.
Marble Maze 2 is the sequel to the very well known Marble Maze game, and brings with it a host of cool new features and 70 new levels. Marble Maze 2 has a new treadmill feature, which drags the ball in different directions at set points, making it even more challenging. Check out the video demo of the game after the break, and you can see just how tricky this new version can be. Marble Maze 2 is available for all S60 5th Edition devices and can be downloaded for free from our S60 5th Edition Applications page.
Thomas Perl has published a nifty little application for the Nokia N900 called RaeMote. RaeMote is a widget that emulates the Apple infrared remote control for your Mac mini, MacBook or iPod Dock. The application is currently still not refined enough for a public release, however it is expected to hit the Maemo Extras Repository soon. Check out the quick demo of the application in motion after the break.
Check out this face detection/tracking demo that uses the front facing camera of the Nokia N900. The game is called BurgerFace, and the task is to collect as many burgers and dodge as many knives as you can by simply moving your head from side to side as the controller. This cool innovative concept is just another glimpse at the power behind this device. Video after the jump.
Earlier this year we brought you a cool demonstration of Augmented Reality on the Nokia N900. Augmented Reality is a technology that overlays computer generated information over a users view of the real world. Today we would like to update you on this project with two more, very exciting videos, showcasing shadow mapping and virtual interaction using the Nokia N900. The guys over at Rojtberg.net are really making some head way with this project, and although it may be some time before the application is available through the ‘maemo-extras’ repository, it surely does deserve some more attention. Videos after the break.
As the release of Symbian^3 draws inevitably close, the anticipation for what Nokia has in store is becoming pretty exciting. Today we managed to get our hands on a couple of very cool videos demonstrating some of the features of the upcoming Symbian^4 OS. The first video takes a quick look at the multiple homescreens, implemented with versatile widget support, similar to that of the Nokia N900. The second video showcases the Photo Gallery application, which is pretty cool and has a sort of thumbnail mini map when viewing photos in full screen. All I can say is that the delay in releasing a new device can only mean that there is something big about to hit us soon, and the excitement is definitely building up here. Check out the video demos at the break, and let us know what you think.
Check out this AAVA Reference Design, running on a QT based UI, which is the frame work for the upcoming MeeGo OS. The demo is showcased on AAVA’s Moblin 2.1 smartphone, and is just a glimpse at what’s yet to come from Nokia. Hopefully it won’t be too long before we get to see some real Nokia demos of it’s new Mobile Computing OS. Video after the break.
In this video, Jo Harlow, Senior Vice President of Nokia smartphones, discusses some of the significant aspects of Symbian^3. Jo also goes on to talk about where smartphones are headed in the future in terms of both Symbian and Meego, and how all future Symbian devices will be based on Symbian^3. Symbian^3 will enhance the user experience with better graphics performance, the speed of the UI, and less user prompts, making the experience “WOW but familiar.”
Firefox brings some really nice touches to your Nokia N900 – The Awesome Bar makes it a breeze to search your history, bookmarks and tags, and go to your favourite sites instantly. You can also share your Firefox preferences, history, and bookmarks between your desktop PC and your Nokia N900. Not to mention the one-touch bookmarking. And of course, there are also the famous Firefox add-ons that let you customise your browser, as well as Tabs so you can browse multiple sites at once.
Phil Shwarzmann of Nokia Conversations got Niklas Savander, EVP of Services at Nokia, to answer your questions sent in to @NokConv. Want to know how it went? Check out the video after the break.
