
Forum Nokia has released a short video showcasing a project titled ThinkContacts, a mobile application developed for the Maemo platform using QT. It allows the user to select a contact from the phone’s address book and make a phone call by only using the brain’s activity. It is explained and demonstrated in this video using a Nokia N900 and a NeuroSky Mindset headset. Earlier this year we brought to you Brain Maze, which also used this technology as a primary input method for an S60 5th Edition game. Check out the video after the jump.

Nokia has proudly announced a joint venture with Pearson, the world’s leading education company, to accelerate the growth of MobilEdu, a premier mobile phone-delivered education service, developed by Nokia in China. Launched in China in 2007, MobilEdu provides wireless learning directly to your device. One part of the learning solution focuses on environmental awareness. During its first six months, MobilEdu attracted 300,000 users in China and there are still 5,000 more people using it every day. By the beginning of 2008 the environmental content had been downloaded 1.2 million times.

In June 2008 Nokia acquired Trolltech ASA to enable the acceleration of their cross-platform software strategy for mobile devices and desktop applications, and to develop its Internet services business. On September 29, 2008 Nokia renamed Trolltech to Qt Development Frameworks. Qt is a cross-platform application and UI framework used by hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide looking to create amazing user experiences on a wide range of platforms. Nokia plans to align its research and development (R&D) operations in Finland and Denmark to be in line with the company’s focused portfolio of future products. The planned changes are expected to affect up to 230 employees at Nokia’s Oulu site in Finland and approximately 100 employees at Nokia’s Copenhagen site. The total number would represent approximately 2% of Nokia’s R&D personnel globally.
