With a great user experience, an aggressive global rollout plan and a focus on local relevance, Nokia felt that it was time to commend some of the key milestones the Nokia services have achieved. Taking a look at some of the Ovi services, there has already been more than three million Ovi Maps downloaded to date, the average person using Comes With Music downloads 500 free songs in the first few weeks of using the service, which would cost about EUR 450 from iTunes, and the Ovi Store experiences more than one million downloads a day. Nokia also highlighted the success of its Messaging, Money and Life Tools services. The Symbian Foundation today announced that it is joining the Open Screen Project, an industry initiative led by Adobe dedicated to enabling the Adobe Flash Platform across a broad range of devices. The work of the Open Screen Project will help deliver Adobe Flash Player on future versions of the Symbian platform. The rich and open capabilities of the Symbian platform combined with the Flash Player will enable Symbian device users to benefit from the huge amount of Flash-based web content for a vivid and complete Internet experience. Adobe has also announced advancements to the Adobe Flash Platform including the unveiling of Adobe AIR on mobile devices, a consistent runtime for standalone applications to come out of the Open Screen Project.

Nokia Intel Announce Partnership Introducing Meego 640x176 Nokia & Intel Announce Partnership | Introducing MeeGo

The world’s largest handset manufacturer and world’s largest chipmaker collaborate and introduce Maego. In a significant development in the convergence of communications and computing, Intel Corporation and Nokia are merging their popular Moblin and Maemo software platforms. This will create a unified Linux-based platform that will run on multiple hardware platforms across a wide range of computing devices, including pocketable mobile computers, netbooks, tablets, media phones, connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems. Called MeeGo, the open software platform will accelerate industry innovation and time-to-market for a wealth of new Internet-based applications and services and exciting user experiences. MeeGo-based devices from Nokia and other manufacturers are expected to be launched later this year.

Symbian ^3 Is Here 600x300 Symbian^3 Is Here

Symbian^3 (S^3) is finally here! S^3 is the first entirely open source release following the platforms transition to an open source license on February 4th, 2010, which was the largest of its kind in history. S^3 brings with it multiple homescreens, HW Accelerated Graphics, single tap throughout the UI, pinch and zoom with multi-touch and a visual way of multi-tasking. The S^3 code is expected to be complete by the end of Q1. Check out the demo after the break.
