Bloomberg has today revealed that two people with knowledge of the terms regarding the Nokia/Microsoft Partnership announced in Mobile World Congress 2011 earlier last month, have stated that Microsoft will pay Nokia around $1 billion to promote and develop Windows Phone-based handsets as part of their smartphone software agreement. UnwiredView managed to get an interview with Nokia’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Development, Dr. Kai Oistamo, during Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Dr. Kai Oistamo was asked questions regarding the NokMsft deal, Ovi services and Nokia’s WP codebase, to which he responded, “There is plenty of things Nokia can do to build on top of Windows Phone without fragmenting the Windows Phone code,” allowing Nokia to differentiate themselves and stand out within the Windows Phone ecosystem.
