
Mozilla has announced that its Firefox 4 for Maemo is out of beta and is now available as a release candidate. This release offers faster scrolling, better responsiveness with Firefox Sync and improves the overall user experience of Firefox on your Nokia N900. Nokia has announced that Sebastian Nystrom will succeed Alberto Torres as new Head of the Meego team at Nokia. Alberto left the company when Nokia announced the partnership with Microsoft at MWC in February and so Sebastian has now been appointed to take over. Nokia has also announced that a Meego Developer Edition will become available for the Nokia N900. More details after the break.

Myriad Group AG today announced the launch of Myriad Alien Dalvik, which enables Android apps to run on non-Android platforms. Myriad Alien Dalvik will commercially become available later this year on the Meego platform, with more operating systems to follow. The first demonstration will take place next week at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona on 14th-17th February. Check out the video demo on the Nokia N900 after the break..

The Maemo Community Council and Mohammad Abu-Garbeyyeh have announced today the launch of a Maemo 5 Community Seamless Software Update Project (CSSU). CSSU is currently being developed by the Maemo Community, for the Maemo community, and it aims to deliver fixes which can’t be delivered easily through Extras, such as core Nokia N900 packages.
