The Nokia N86 8MP has recently received a new firmware update taking it up to v30.009. The new firmware brings many updates and improvements to your Nokia N86, including updated versions of Nokia Messaging, Ovi Store, and preloaded maps data along with the new Ovi Maps v3.3 with free voice guided turn-by-turn navigation. New firmware updates also contain more general bug fixes and optimizations necessary for the software on your device to perform properly, therefore we recommend you always keep your device up to date. The new firmware will gradually make its way round to you over the coming weeks depending on your region and product code. Check out the full changelog after the break.
The Nokia N86 8MP is still Nokia’s current camera flagship device, with its 8 megapixel CMOS sensor and variable aperture that challenges standalone digital cameras. The fast mechanical shutter ensures shorter latencies and less motion blur and processing times have been more than halved in comparison with many other camera phones. Not only is the hardware impressive but taking a look at the software built in to the camera application, there are some pretty cool features including a Time Lapse function. The Nokia N86 8MP has received a minor firmware update taking it up from v20.115 to v21.006. New firmware updates generally contain bug fixes and optimizations necessary for other software to perform correctly, therefore we recommend you always keep your device up to date. You can update your device using FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) by simply typing *#0000# on your homescreen and selecting check for updates or you can also use NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and Ovi Suite. Although the Nokia N86 supports UDP (User Data Preservation), we still recommend you do a full backup to ensure you do not lose any data, especially if you’re updating using NSU.
Jon from The Gadget Show, checked out the Nokia N86 in the first part of last Thursday’s Web TV Episode. He usually knows what he’s talking about when it comes to mobile phones, and generally gives a thorough overview of the device on hand. Not too sure about his thoughts on the battery life though, I found it hard to make it last a single day.
