Nokia Intel Announce Partnership Introducing Meego 640x176 Nokia & Intel Announce Partnership | Introducing MeeGo

The world’s largest handset manufacturer and world’s largest chipmaker collaborate and introduce Maego. In a significant development in the convergence of communications and computing, Intel Corporation and Nokia are merging their popular Moblin and Maemo software platforms. This will create a unified Linux-based platform that will run on multiple hardware platforms across a wide range of computing devices, including pocketable mobile computers, netbooks, tablets, media phones, connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems. Called MeeGo, the open software platform will accelerate industry innovation and time-to-market for a wealth of new Internet-based applications and services and exciting user experiences. MeeGo-based devices from Nokia and other manufacturers are expected to be launched later this year.

Symbian ^3 Is Here 600x300 Symbian^3 Is Here

Symbian^3 (S^3) is finally here! S^3 is the first entirely open source release following the platforms transition to an open source license on February 4th, 2010, which was the largest of its kind in history. S^3 brings with it multiple homescreens, HW Accelerated Graphics, single tap throughout the UI, pinch and zoom with multi-touch and a visual way of multi-tasking. The S^3 code is expected to be complete by the end of Q1. Check out the demo after the break.

Nokia has finally put the rumours to rest, with the announcement that it will be in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress 2010, however it won’t be attending the event. Nokia has decided to host a party of it’s own, as an alternative to all the noise and crowds of MWC, where guests will have the opportunity to discuss Nokia solutions and services along with fellow peers in a more relaxed environment, with delicious food and drinks served in the comfort of sofas.
