The Nokia N900 has just received a new firmware update taking it up to v3.2010.02-8 (PR 1.1.1).

New firmware updates generally contain bug fixes and optimizations necessary for the software on your device to perform properly, therefore we recommend you always keep your device up to date. Unfortunately there is no official changelog but we will update this article as soon as we know more. The new firmware will gradually make its way round to you over the coming weeks depending on your region and product code.

Check out this video preview of some cool apps incoming for the Nokia N900. The demoed apps include 3D Roller Coaster, a game that really shows off the potential of the Nokia N900, with some amazing 3D graphics. There is also Zen Bound, another 3D game coming soon to the Ovi Store. Check out this cool demo of UIEMO on the Nokia N900. UIEMO is Nokia’s new UI framework built on top of Qt. Like Qt, it is easy to compile across various platforms, like Symbian, Maemo, and Windows. The UI Extensions for Mobile demo was made on top of newly released UIEMO framework in less than a week. The demo fetches content dynamically from Tieto’s own server. Content can include for example news feeds and updates from social networks like Facebook and Flickr.

Today we’d like to give you a quick update and let you know that our S60 5th Edition Applications download page has been updated, where you will find a nice, easy to view list of games and apps for your S60 5th Edition device. We will continue to update this page every week if not daily, so make sure you keep popping by. Our Maemo5 Applications section also has a great deal of apps available to download, and is currently being revised in order to provide you with more resources, and make installing applications easier. We also have a S60 3rd Edition Applications section which, to be fair we have neglected a little. Over the next few weeks we will also be updating this section with new applications, so make sure you stay tuned for that.

Firefox has just announced that Firefox for Mobile is now available for Nokia’s Maemo platform after only a day or two of the RC3 release. Nokia N900 owners will now be able to customise their mobile web using the add-ons features and tabbed browsing, just like the desktop browser.
