Yesterday Nokia and Yahoo! announced their collaboration, and what each hopes to achieve through this deal. Both companies plan to enhance their current market strengths in e-mail, instant messaging, maps and navigation services, to provide consumers with access to world-class experiences on both PC and mobile devices. The strategic alliance to extend the reach of their industry leading online services and offer people rich experiences that keep them connected to their world and the world around them is a huge step in the right direction. With the current trends, people desire familiarity, recognition and ease of access. Nokia has collaborated with a some big names over the last couple of months, with likes of Intel and Microsoft recently hopping aboard the mothership, in an aim to strengthen its provision of devices and services. The latest organisation to be targeted by the mobile phone giants is Yahoo!.

The new firmware updates continue with the Nokia E72, that has just been updated to v31.023. The new firmware brings many new features, improvements and updates including the highly requested Internet Radio application. New firmware updates also contain more general bug fixes and optimizations necessary for the software on your device to perform properly, therefore we recommend you always keep your device up to date. The new firmware will gradually make its way round to you over the coming weeks depending on your region and product code. Nokia’s environmental team has rolled out its third video of the ‘Easy To Be Green’ campaign. This time the focus is on travel, or unnecessary travel for that matter. Attending meetings overseas can be costly, not only to the company but also to the environment. To put it into perspective, if only ten percent of the one billion plus Nokia users used their mobile phone for video conferencing instead of traveling to meetings overseas, we could avoid over 79 million tons on CO2 emissions per year. Nokia has announced that it has signed an agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of Novarra Inc. Novarra is a privately-held company based in Chicago, and is the provider of a mobile browser and service platform. Novarra will now become an owned subsidiary of Nokia, and this technology will be used by Nokia to deliver enhanced Internet experiences on Nokia mobile devices.

Lugging around MP3 players, digital cameras, laptops and navigators is hard work to say the least, and powering all these devices is a huge task in itself. Switching to an all-in-one Nokia smartphone can remove all this hassle, and also stay kind to the environment. To put it into perspective, if only ten percent of the one billion plus Nokia users used their mobile phone as a do-it-all device, we could avoid over 25 million tons on CO2 emissions per year.
