The Nokia N8 is nearing its official release and what better way to get excited than a few hands on tutorials of some of its features. The first video we showed you by Chris Bennetts, Senior Project Manager at Nokia, focused more on the devices connectivity and the customisation limits. Today he gives a thorough walkthrough on the photography features, the video and image editor in particular. It’s an exciting prospect when you consider the quality of content you’ll able to capture with the device’s 12 MP camera and its Carl Zeiss Optics. Check out the video after the break, and stay tuned for part three next week.

ABBYY FotoTranslate | Travel & Dine With Confidenceby Ibrahim Jogee | Applications, Reviews, VideoIf you’re planning a trip this summer to a foreign country we have just the app for you. ABBYY FotoTranslate is a cracking utility application that not only converts images of text into text using its award winning Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, but also then translates this text into your preferred language. So the next time you come across a road sign or restaurant menu that you can’t quite make sense of, simply snap the text you wish to translate and let ABBYY FotoTranslate do the rest. What’s more is that there is no need for an Internet connection, cellular signal, or even access to any external language resources. The built in dictionary software supports up to 8 languages for recognition and 30 directions for translation. Check out my thoughts after the break.

Nokia N8 | HD Video Capture & 12 Megapixel Photo Samplesby Ibrahim Jogee | Features, Handset, Preview, VideoThe Nokia N8 was announced yesterday with its impressive (to say the least) spec sheet. The device is a complete upgrade of a Nokia smartphone as we know it and is exactly what Nokia needed. The Nokia N8 brings the familiarity of Nokia’s much loved Symbian platform into a whole new age with Symbian^3. This is just a small portion of the new technology this device is packing, but before we go into that, let’s take a quick look at some of its more obvious features, mainly being the 12 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera that sports HD video recording at 720p. We’ve got some sample photos to share with you along with a short clip recorded solely with the Nokia N8, which has not been enhanced or tweaked in any way, and the quality is simply faultless!

Time Lapse Videos Created Using The Nokia N86 8MPby Ibrahim Jogee | Features, Handset, Reviews, Tips & Tricks, VideoThe Nokia N86 8MP is still Nokia’s current camera flagship device, with its 8 megapixel CMOS sensor and variable aperture that challenges standalone digital cameras. The fast mechanical shutter ensures shorter latencies and less motion blur and processing times have been more than halved in comparison with many other camera phones. Not only is the hardware impressive but taking a look at the software built in to the camera application, there are some pretty cool features including a Time Lapse function. Check out these cool demos of a sunrise and sunset shot using the Nokia N86 after the jump.

Nokia BH-607 Bluetooth Headset Reviewby Ibrahim Jogee | Accessories, Mobile Phones, ReviewsThe Nokia BH-607 Bluetooth Headset is Nokia’s latest bluetooth headset which has Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and two built-in microphones. The in-ear headset sports acoustic wind noise reduction and has support for Advanced Multipoint, which allows you to connect it with more than one device. It’s also the first of its kind to sport My Own Key, which enables you to assign a specific function to one of the keys. I’ve been using the headset for the past month now and thought I’d fill you in on how we got on. So check out my thoughts, along with an extensive gallery for your viewing pleasure, after the jump. |
