The Nokia E71 has today been updated with a new firmware taking it up to v501.21.001. The new firmware brings some great improvements including a new Music Player and the new Ovi Store. Other updates include Ovi Maps 3.03 Lite with free voice guided navigation. The new firmware will gradually make its way round to you over the coming weeks depending on your region and product code. The Nokia E71, Nokia E66 and Nokia E63 have all recently received new firmware updates taking them to v410.21.010. All three devices can now make use of the free voice-guided navigation provided courtesy of Ovi Maps 3.3. Nokia has stuck to its word, and has increased the compatibility of Ovi Maps v3.03, which provides free voice guided navigation on Nokia handsets. The announcement today is that you can now utilize both walk and drive navigation on your Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 for absolutely no cost whatsoever. This news comes after the announcement of the Nokia N86 8MP, which also recently joined this exclusive bunch. Late last year WOMWorld kindly provided me with the Nokia E72 for trial, which I have been using as my main device for around a month. The Nokia E72 is Nokia’s latest Eseries flagship device, that has all the business orientated features you need, packed nicely into a slim and compact design. The E72 is also the first in the Eseries range to sport a 5 megapixel camera, finally bringing Eseries up to par with the Nokia Nseries. The Nokia E72 does have a lot to live up to, bearing in mind the success of its predecessor the Nokia E71. The latter was by far the greatest Nokia handset of 2008, winning multiple awards in Best Smartphone and Phone of the Year categories. I personally still have the Nokia E71 as my companion, and so its time to see whether the E72 has what it takes to carry the torch forward.
