
The Windows Phone Marketplace is Microsoft’s mobile phone app store, and will eventually become the new application store for Nokia users. Following the recent partnership announcement from Nokia and Microsoft, the Ovi Store, along with the rest of the Ovi services, are set to receive some major changes, ultimately being replaced or combined with Microsoft’s offerings. Thomas Perl has published a nifty little application for the Nokia N900 called RaeMote. RaeMote is a widget that emulates the Apple infrared remote control for your Mac mini, MacBook or iPod Dock. The application is currently still not refined enough for a public release, however it is expected to hit the Maemo Extras Repository soon. Earlier this week, Nokia announced that it has filed a complaint with the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) alleging Apple of infringing seven Nokia patents in virtually all of its mobile phones, portable music players, and computers. This feud with Nokia and Apple has been going on for quite some time now, but this complaint states that Nokia’s pioneering innovations are now being used by Apple to create key features in its products in the area of user interface, as well as camera, antenna and power management technologies. These patented technologies are important to Nokia’s success as they allow better user experience, lower manufacturing costs, smaller size and longer battery life for Nokia products.
