
Part of Microsoft’s announcement of the new Windows Phone update at Mobile World Congress yesterday, included the addition of multitasking to the platform that’s rapidly gaining popularity. Yes you heard that correctly, believe it or not, multitasking is also not yet available on Windows Phone 7, but the new update which is due to be released next month, will finally bring this imperative feature to Windows Phone users. Ovi Maps for Mobile v3.06 has received an update taking it out of the beta stages into a final build v3.06(587). The new updated allows you to have more freedom in terms of customising the Maps homescreen user interface to make it relevant to you. The search experience has also been improved as well as a new drive assistance mode with live traffic flow. Hit the jump for the full changelog.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has made it clear that even though Nokia will share the Windows Phone platform with other OEM’s, Nokia’s number one priority is to beat Android in the battle of the ecosystems, and will then focus on competing within the Windows Phone ecosystem itself. More after the break.
