At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Nokia has announced its partnership with the automotive industry to introduce ‘Terminal Mode’. Terminal Mode is being proposed as an industry standard to connect all smartphones that adopt it, not just Nokia smartphones, to support in-car infotainment systems. Nokia believes it should be easy to share information and content between your smartphone and other devices you use everyday such as your PC and the web. This way it is easy to keep everything synchronized and ensure you always have access to the things you love, such as your music, and the services you use, such as navigation, whenever and wherever you need them.

Skype and Nokia today announced the release of Skype for Symbian, a Skype client for Nokia smartphones based on the Symbian platform, the world’s most popular smartphone platform. Skype for Symbian will allow Nokia smartphone users worldwide to use Skype on the move, over either a WiFi or mobile data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 3G). Nokia Messaging For Email Final Winter 2010 Update Complete 640x213 Nokia Messaging For Email | Winter 2010 Update Complete %blogname

The Nokia Messaging team have been hard at work over this Winter, and have today announced that the third and final update of the Winter 2010 updates is complete. To begin with the client was updated for S60 5th Edition devices. This update was available as Nokia Messaging 10.2 in the Software Update application last week. Later, there was a significant update that changed the way emails were stored on the device, which was automatically pushed into Nokia Messaging 10.2. The final update sees Nokia Messaging automatically consolidate accounts when the user adds an email address that belongs to another Nokia Messaging account. Nokia Messaging now always aligns the Nokia Messaging password with the Email Service Provider (ESP) password. Read on to find out more about each of the updates.

Turkcell and Nokia today announced that they are to bring Nokia Messaging to Turkcell customers in Turkey. By the end of Q2 2010, Turkcell customers are expected to be able to enjoy the Nokia Messaging push email service, which will allow them to have up to 10 personal email accounts pushed directly to their Nokia device such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Windows Live Hotmail.

With a great user experience, an aggressive global rollout plan and a focus on local relevance, Nokia felt that it was time to commend some of the key milestones the Nokia services have achieved. Taking a look at some of the Ovi services, there has already been more than three million Ovi Maps downloaded to date, the average person using Comes With Music downloads 500 free songs in the first few weeks of using the service, which would cost about EUR 450 from iTunes, and the Ovi Store experiences more than one million downloads a day. Nokia also highlighted the success of its Messaging, Money and Life Tools services. Amongst the commotion of Nokia, Intel and MeeGo at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia also announced that it has teamed up with YES BANK to introduce a live commercial pilot scheme of Nokia Money in India. Nokia Money will see its test debut in Pune, one of the largest metropolitan areas in India, and will be called ‘Mobile Money Services by YES BANK’. The world’s largest handset manufacturer and world’s largest chipmaker collaborate and introduce Maego. In a significant development in the convergence of communications and computing, Intel Corporation and Nokia are merging their popular Moblin and Maemo software platforms. This will create a unified Linux-based platform that will run on multiple hardware platforms across a wide range of computing devices, including pocketable mobile computers, netbooks, tablets, media phones, connected TVs and in-vehicle infotainment systems. Called MeeGo, the open software platform will accelerate industry innovation and time-to-market for a wealth of new Internet-based applications and services and exciting user experiences. MeeGo-based devices from Nokia and other manufacturers are expected to be launched later this year.
