In this video, Axel Meyer, Head of Nseries Design, talks about the design and experience of a Nokia flagship device and the considerable amount of thought that goes into creating Nseries devices. He talks about what a true flagship represents, from the materials used in the construction of the device to the experience enhancing capabilities of it, he believes the device is truly an extension of you.

Thomas Perl has published a nifty little application for the Nokia N900 called RaeMote. RaeMote is a widget that emulates the Apple infrared remote control for your Mac mini, MacBook or iPod Dock. The application is currently still not refined enough for a public release, however it is expected to hit the Maemo Extras Repository soon. The CeBIT Global Conferences are underway in Hannover, Germany, and Nokia has kicked off with the revelation of its Cseries portfolio. The Nokia C5 is the first Cseries device to be announced and is designed to cater for those looking for a cheap smartphone with heavy social networking capabilities. If you fit the bill, you will also be delighted to learn that the Nokia C5 is estimated to retail for around £125 before taxes and subsides.

Check out this face detection/tracking demo that uses the front facing camera of the Nokia N900. The game is called BurgerFace, and the task is to collect as many burgers and dodge as many knives as you can by simply moving your head from side to side as the controller. This cool innovative concept is just another glimpse at the power behind this device. Video after the jump.

Earlier this year we brought you a cool demonstration of Augmented Reality on the Nokia N900. Augmented Reality is a technology that overlays computer generated information over a users view of the real world. Today we would like to update you on this project with two more, very exciting videos, showcasing shadow mapping and virtual interaction using the Nokia N900. The guys over at Rojtberg.net are really making some head way with this project, and although it may be some time before the application is available through the ‘maemo-extras’ repository, it surely does deserve some more attention. In this video, Jo Harlow, Senior Vice President of Nokia smartphones, discusses some of the significant aspects of Symbian^3. Jo also goes on to talk about where smartphones are headed in the future in terms of both Symbian and Meego, and how all future Symbian devices will be based on Symbian^3. Symbian^3 will enhance the user experience with better graphics performance, the speed of the UI, and less user prompts, making the experience “WOW but familiar.”

Nokia has decided to scrap what could have been its third NFC handset, the Nokia 6216, due to the quality of the consumer experience not being what it hoped for. The Nokia 6216 would have also been the first NFC handset to have handed over control of the payment system to the Service Provider’s SIM card through SWP (Single Wire Protocol). SWP is the exact architecture that China Unicom is expected to be deploying later this year.

Firefox brings some really nice touches to your Nokia N900 – The Awesome Bar makes it a breeze to search your history, bookmarks and tags, and go to your favourite sites instantly. You can also share your Firefox preferences, history, and bookmarks between your desktop PC and your Nokia N900. Not to mention the one-touch bookmarking. And of course, there are also the famous Firefox add-ons that let you customise your browser, as well as Tabs so you can browse multiple sites at once.

Check out this cool demo showing a how Manikantan interfaced his Nokia N97 mini with GameFactory and used it to control a jeep in the game. GameFactory is an advanced game engine developed by research teams inside NTU’s GameLab, headed by Prof. Seah. As you can see, he controls the jeep in the game by using the built in accelerometer of the Nokia N97 mini. Video after the break.
