The Nokia Beta Labs today released a limited beta of Swype for Symbian, probably the most anticipated predictive text input application to date. Swype provides a faster and easier way to input text by swiping your finger with one continuous motion across the Qwerty keypad on your device. Spitfire by Lionear Ltd is a loop-based audio recording and remixing application for mobile devices and it is currently available for Symbian S60 3rd and 5th Edition devices. It has four tracks for audio playback; audio can be either recorded through the device mic or loaded from a library of preset loops. After the official re-release of Sports Tracker last month, Sports Tracking Technologies Ltd have announced that the new version is now compatible with non-touch screen devices. Sports Tracker allows you to train better by keeping an accurate record of your progress. It collects all your data from calories burned while running to the average cycling speed over altitude. You can get maps, time and distance calculators, step count, and even heart rate when you use a compatible HR belt. All the data is stored in a diary so you can chart your progress, find your strengths and weaknesses, and share your results with others. Sports Tracker for Nokia touch-screen phones is one of the most downloaded applications in Nokia Ovi Store, so now you can join the million others with your non-touch device and share your sporting journey.

This week Nokia Beta Labs announced that they have updated both the Ovi Contacts to v1.5 and Ovi Calendar to v1.6. Ovi Contacts v1.5 is mainly a graphic face-lift of the service but also includes some performance tweaks. Ovi Calendar v1.6 finally brings multiple calendars to your Nokia S60 handset. In this day and age, multiple calendars have become more of a necessity than a nice feature, and so it is great that Nokia have decided to implement this into the service. Although it would be even better if these services were completed pronto and final versions were released.
