Forum Nokia has released a short video showcasing a project titled ThinkContacts, a mobile application developed for the Maemo platform using QT. It allows the user to select a contact from the phone’s address book and make a phone call by only using the brain’s activity. It is explained and demonstrated in this video using a Nokia N900 and a NeuroSky Mindset headset. Earlier this year we brought to you Brain Maze, which also used this technology as a primary input method for an S60 5th Edition game. Check out the video after the jump.

Nokia has unveiled a cracking new accessory that can provide free and environmentally friendly electricity to charge your Nokia device. The Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit consists of a charger and dynamo, as well as a holder to secure the phone to a bike. When the kit is installed, the dynamo – a small electrical generator – uses the movement of the wheels to charge the handset through the standard 2mm charging jack used in most Nokia mobile phones. With free voice guided navigation also bundled with all the latest Nokia devices, you can guarantee that this handy little number will be very popular indeed.

Rafe Blanford was lucky enough to visit Nokia’s Espoo (Helsinki) offices, and had the opportunity to look around Nokia’s Experience Lounge which showcased all of Nokia’s latest products and services. Within the Experience Lounge, Nokia had set up most of its Ovi services, along with a huge collection of nearly all the handsets and accessories ever made by the Finnish giants. It reminds you of how game-changing Nokia were, with most of the technology in the devices appearing way ahead of its time. Do you remember how many of these you owned? The Nokia BH-607 Bluetooth Headset is Nokia’s latest bluetooth headset which has Advanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and two built-in microphones. The in-ear headset sports acoustic wind noise reduction and has support for Advanced Multipoint, which allows you to connect it with more than one device. It’s also the first of its kind to sport My Own Key, which enables you to assign a specific function to one of the keys. I’ve been using the headset for the past month now and thought I’d fill you in on how we got on. So check out my thoughts, along with an extensive gallery for your viewing pleasure, after the jump.

As our regular readers are probably aware, we had the Nokia E72 during the unboxing challenge set by WOMWorld, but not only did they send us the handset, they also crammed the Nokia Extra Power DC-11 into the package. Now I’ve personally spent quite a bit of money on portable power in the past, and none of the chargers that I have bought seem to make the cut. The huge selection of connectors, adjustable cords, and all the other gimmickry, just made it a chore to have to pack all these little finicky pieces into one bag to carry around. All I wanted was a simple, reliable and compact solution, and I think I may have just stumbled upon the perfect one.

When taking a step back from the fast growing mobile devices industry, we can see that technology has progressed far beyond what we initially expected. Mobile phones as we knew them are now a thing of the past as they now pack more than just telephony features. Most mobile handsets now come with many modern standards in terms of features; high quality photo capture and video recording capabilities, turn-by-turn navigation, connectivity choices from Bluetooth to sharing online, and web browsing technologies emulating the desktop experience.

NeuroSky is a company that specialises in biosensor technology. It’s Brain-Computer Interface technology is available to developers and researchers across a range of industries. Brain Maze is a game that allows the showcase of this technology on a Nokia handset, using tilt and brain interaction as the primary control. Using the NeuroSky Mindset Headset, the user must adopt the appropriate mental state (either meditative or attentive) at certain points in the game to unlock brain controlled gates within the game. Check out the video demo on the Nokia N97 after the break.
