Nokia has announced a new typeface and a new look for promotional materials in a bid to put out a new brand image that’s simpler, fresher and stronger than before. Check out the sneak preview after the break where you can gain a rough idea of how the future typeface may appear.

New Font

This is the new typeface that’s been created for Nokia by the branding people. It’s called Nokia Pure and we like it a lot. The third picture, with the lower case ‘c’ and ‘e’ up close is worth particular attention. Not only does it look… well, pure and simple, but the letters flow into each other somewhat, creating the impression of forward movement. The idea of flow and movement appears frequently in the new branding.


Take the images below with a pinch of salt. These pictures are not of forthcoming products. Rather, they show some ideas of how the new branding might extend onto the user interface of our mobile devices.

So what do you think? I personally think it’s definitely a change for the good. Nokia does need to put a statement out showing its willing to change and adapt with time.
