As our regular readers are probably aware, we had the Nokia E72 during the unboxing challenge set by WOMWorld, but not only did they send us the handset, they also crammed the Nokia Extra Power DC-11 into the package. Now I’ve personally spent quite a bit of money on portable power in the past, and none of the chargers that I have bought seem to make the cut. The huge selection of connectors, adjustable cords, and all the other gimmickry, just made it a chore to have to pack all these little finicky pieces into one bag to carry around. All I wanted was a simple, reliable and compact solution, and I think I may have just stumbled upon the perfect one.

The Nokia Extra Power DC-11 is a very slim Nokia accessory to charge your device on the go. It won the Red Dot Design Award in 2009, and I can thoroughly understand its credentials. Although the device is very compact, it pack a 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is enough to charge any Nokia handset from empty to full. You could probably even charge your device twice with a single charge.

Now the reason I use the term ‘device’ is because this thing can power up almost every piece of gadgetry you own. With the microUSB connector to be a universal standard for handheld devices, most future gadgets will also sport this feature. What’s more is that the Nokia Extra Power DC-11 has both a proprietary Nokia 2.0 mm pin and a microUSB pin, allowing you to charge two devices at the same time.

The Nokia Extra Power DC-11 does not come with a charger, which I think is pretty fair, as most people who would consider purchasing this device will already own a Nokia phone, and hence will have a charger lying around somewhere. Since this trial, I have bought two of these chargers for personal use, and would highly recommend it. Currently the Nokia Extra Power DC-11 is available for £33.38 including shipping from Amazon.co.uk. Not a bad price at all.
